30 Architecture Scholarships (March 2026)

The purpose of the ASCA/AISC Student Design Competition is to encourage innovation in architecture. Applicants must be architecture students at ACSA member schools in the United States, Canada or Mexico and be college juniors, seniors or graduate students. Students must submit a design project on one of the association's featured themes, and they must work under the direction of a faculty sponsor.

The purpose of the Karen Ann Shopis-Fox Memorial Scholarship is to support students who are studying landscape architecture or environmental education. Applicants must be Connecticut residents and be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary landscape architecture or environmental education program. Both undergraduate and graduate students may apply.

The purpose of the VMSD Scholarship is to support students in educational programs preparing them for careers in the retail environments industry. Applicants must be a third or fourth year student or equivalent or enrolled in a program working toward a degree in interior design, retail design, hospitality design, visual merchandising, UX design, architecture, engineering or product design. Students must be located and studying in the United States with a minimum 3.0 GPA. An essay on a provided prompt and a project folio are required to be submitted.

The purpose of the Mary Kolb Berglund Traveling Fellowship is to support students who are residents of Texas interested in pursuing careers in architecture. The fellowship is awarded to students to research, develop and disseminate knowledge of a built environment. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited architecture program. Students must present their research in a public forum upon returning from traveling studies.

The purpose of the Sir John Soane’s Museum Foundation Traveling Grant is to provide scholarships enabling graduate students to travel to England and to study the work of Sir John Soane (or Sir John Soane's Museum and its collections). Applicants must be enrolled in graduate programs focusing on the history of art, architecture, decorative arts or interior design.

The purpose of the Predoctoral Fellowship Program is to support advanced graduate research in the history, theory and criticism of art, architecture and urbanism. Applicants for predoctoral fellowships must be nominated by the chair of the graduate department of art history or other appropriate departments. Applicants must have completed all departmental requirements, including course work, residency and general and preliminary examinations. Certification in two languages other than English is required. Applicants should submit nomination forms, supporting letters from two individuals and writing samples. There are various fellowships. The David E. Finley Fellowship requires applicants have a significant interest in curatorial work. The Paul Mellon Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in Western art. The Samuel H. Kress Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in European art on a topic before the early nineteenth century. The Wyeth Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation that concerns aspects of art of the United States, including native and pre-Revolutionary America. The Ittleson Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in the visual arts in a field other than Western art. The Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in cross-cultural studies or in a field other than Western art through the twentieth century. The Robert H. and Clarice Smith Fellowship is for research on Northern European art between 1400 and 1700, intended for the advancement or completion of either a doctoral dissertation or a resulting publication. The Chester Dale Fellowships are for the advancement or completion of a doctoral dissertation in any area of Western art, with a preference for modern and contemporary topics. The Center offers a Paul Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship for recipients of the David E. Finley, Paul Mellon, Samuel H. Kress, Wyeth, Ittleson, Andrew W. Mellon and two-year Chester Dale fellowships if the dissertation has been accepted by June 1 of the residence year. Several candidates for each fellowship will be invited to Washington for interviews.

The purpose of the Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association Scholarship is to support students pursuing a higher education at a secondary, advanced or trade school with a focus on the sports flooring business. Applicants must be legal residents of the U.S. attending college in the United States. Students must write a 500-word essay and be studying in one of the following fields: architecture, athletic administration, athletics, boiler inspection training, biological conservation, bio-mechanical sciences, building construction, civil engineering, coaching, commercial driving schools, construction sciences or management, dance education, forest science, forestry studies, engineering technology, environmental resource management, exercise science, industrial technology schools, kinesiology, LEED training or certification, mechanic schools, mechanical drafting, machine technologies, natural resources / conservation, physical administration, physical education, physical rehabilitation or therapy, recreation and park administration, small engine repair schools, sports and fitness management, survey schools, trucking schools or wood sciences.

The purpose of the Landscape Forms Scholarship in Memory of Peter Lindsay Schaudt, FASLA is to aid landscape architecture students. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students who are enrolled in a landscape architecture degree program at a school that has been accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB). They must be in the final year of their degree program. Selection is based on academic merit and creativity.

The purpose of the Swank Traveling Fellowship is to support students pursuing a career in architecture, in the study of craft and craftsmanship of a built architectural environment. Applicants must be currently enrolled, or recently graduated from, an accredited architecture program and be residents of Texas.

The purpose of the Wisconsin Garden Club Federation Della H. Balousek Scholarship is to assist students in the Fox Valley Region. Applicants must be students entering their sophomore, junior, senior, or postgraduate students of a Wisconsin college or university. Students must be pursuing a degree in horticulture, floriculture, landscape design/architecture, botany, forestry, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental studies, city planning, land management or other related studies.

The purpose of the CRAN Charleston Scholarship Endowment is to assist students in the Coastal region of South Carolina. Applicants must be high school seniors from Berkeley, Charleston or Dorchester County who are pursuing a degree in architecture.

The purpose of the NDSEG Fellowship Program is to award fellowships to those in science and engineering. Applicants must pursue a doctoral degree in an area of Department of Defense interest: aeronautical and astronautical engineering, biosciences, chemical engineering, chemistry, civil engineering, cognitive, neural and behavioral sciences, computer and computational sciences, electrical engineering, geosciences, materials science and engineering, mathematics, mechanical engineering, naval architecture and ocean engineering, oceanography and physics. Applicants must have completed no more than one academic year of graduate study as a part-time or full-time student or be in their final year of undergraduate studies. The award is based on academic achievement, personal statements, recommendations and Graduate Record Examination scores. Fellowships may be used only at U.S. institutions of higher education offering doctoral degrees.

The purpose of the Wisconsin Garden Club Federation Scholarship is to assist students in the Fox Valley Region. Applicants must be students entering their sophomore, junior or senior year, or postgraduate students of a Wisconsin college or university. Students must be pursuing a degree in horticulture, floriculture, landscape design/architecture, botany, forestry, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental studies, city planning, land management or other related studies.

The purpose of the Charles E. Peterson Fellowship is to support senior fellows who hold a terminal degree during their research project in the field of architecture. Applicants must hold a terminal degree and possess a distinguished record of accomplishment. Preference is given to Delaware Valley topics. Successful applicants may be required to give a public lecture or participate in a seminar at the Athenaeum sharing the results of the project

The purpose of the EMC Engineering Scholarship Fund is to assist Alaskan students. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors with demonstrated financial need who are Alaskan residents and are planning to pursue a four-year degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related fields. Students must be enrolled/planning to enroll full-time in a four-year Alaska based degree program.

The purpose of the Wisconsin Garden Club Federation Myrtle B. Ogilvie Scholarship is to assist students in the Fox Valley Region. Applicants must be college students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Students must be pursuing the study of horticulture, floriculture, landscape design/architecture, botany, forestry, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental studies, city planning, land management or related studies at a two- or four-year college, university, or technical school located within the State of Wisconsin.

The purpose of the ASLA Council of Fellows Scholarships is to encourage students who are financially needy or who are from underrepresented groups to pursue careers in landscape architecture. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. They must be in the third, fourth or fifth year of a Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB)-accredited undergraduate degree program in landscape architecture. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

The purpose of the Lawrence A. Holt Scholarship Fund is to assist students in the Coastal region of South Carolina. Applicants must be African-American high school seniors. Preference will be given to those who are seeking to study architecture or engineering through two- or four-year college programs and who reflect a passion for sports and community service.

The purpose of the AIA/Architects Foundation Diversity Advancement Scholarship is to provide scholarships for students who intend to study architecture and who could not otherwise afford to enter a degree-seeking program. Applicants must be students from a minority race or ethnicity who intend to study architecture in an NAAB-accredited program. Students who are U.S. residents entering, attending or transferring to an NAAB-accredited program are also eligible.

The purpose of the Wisconsin Garden Club Federation Irene Straus Scholarship is to assist students in the Fox Valley Region. Applicants must be students entering their sophomore, junior or senior year or postgraduate students of a Wisconsin college or university. Students must be pursuing a degree in horticulture, floriculture, landscape design/architecture, botany, forestry, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental studies, city planning, land management or other related studies.

The purpose of the Winterthur Research Fellowship Program is to support students interested in conducting material culture research. Applicants must be graduate students who have completed their Ph.D. or doctoral candidates conducting research or writing their dissertation. Areas of study include material culture studies, social and cultural history, art history. literary studies, American studies, design history, the decorative arts, landscape architecture and design, consumer culture, and conservation studies. Selection is based on the research project's suitability to Winterthur's collections and the strength of the overall application.

The purpose of the Edilia and Francois-Auguste de Montequin Fellowship is to support graduate students with travel related to research in Spanish, Portugal or Ibero-American architecture. Applicants must be junior scholars working on doctoral dissertation research or senior scholars who've completed their Ph.D. programs or equivalent. Students must focus projects on Spanish, Portuguese or Ibero-American architecture, including colonial architecture produced by Spaniards in the Philippines. Applicants must be current SAH members.

The purpose of the Rising Bud Scholarship is to support female high school seniors pursuing a degree in an art field. Applicants must be female high-school seniors pursuing an undergraduate degree in art at a college or university in one of the following areas: applied arts (creative literature/writing, decorative art, design, fashion design, fine arts, graphic design or industrial design), cinematic arts (animation, audio/sound or film-making), performing arts (dance, music, step or theater) or visual arts (animation, architecture, audio/sound, ceramics, computer art, crafts, design, drawing, film-making, illustration, painting, photography, printmaking, video or visual communications). Students must be from a low income household earning a combined income that is less than $45,000 a year. A personal statement on a provided topic is required to be submitted.

The purpose of the Edwin K. Mattern, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund is to assist students in the Western Virginia area. Applicants must be graduating seniors from a high school in Roanoke Valley. Students must demonstrate academic capability and financial need. Applicants must enroll in an accredited college or university intending to major in engineering, architecture or closely-related fields.

The purpose of the Eric Hall Scholarship Fund is to support graduating seniors from San Dieguito and Carlsbad Union High School Districts who are pursuing a degree in the areas of engineering, architecture, construction management or urban & city planning. Applicants will be judged on a combination of scholastic achievement and personal merit.
