61 Nomination-Required Scholarships (July 2026)

The purpose of the Predoctoral Fellowship Program is to support advanced graduate research in the history, theory and criticism of art, architecture and urbanism. Applicants for predoctoral fellowships must be nominated by the chair of the graduate department of art history or other appropriate departments. Applicants must have completed all departmental requirements, including course work, residency and general and preliminary examinations. Certification in two languages other than English is required. Applicants should submit nomination forms, supporting letters from two individuals and writing samples. There are various fellowships. The David E. Finley Fellowship requires applicants have a significant interest in curatorial work. The Paul Mellon Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in Western art. The Samuel H. Kress Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in European art on a topic before the early nineteenth century. The Wyeth Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation that concerns aspects of art of the United States, including native and pre-Revolutionary America. The Ittleson Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in the visual arts in a field other than Western art. The Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in cross-cultural studies or in a field other than Western art through the twentieth century. The Robert H. and Clarice Smith Fellowship is for research on Northern European art between 1400 and 1700, intended for the advancement or completion of either a doctoral dissertation or a resulting publication. The Chester Dale Fellowships are for the advancement or completion of a doctoral dissertation in any area of Western art, with a preference for modern and contemporary topics. The Center offers a Paul Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship for recipients of the David E. Finley, Paul Mellon, Samuel H. Kress, Wyeth, Ittleson, Andrew W. Mellon and two-year Chester Dale fellowships if the dissertation has been accepted by June 1 of the residence year. Several candidates for each fellowship will be invited to Washington for interviews.

The purpose of the Corrosion Division Morris Cohen Graduate Student Award is to recognize graduate research in corrosion science and/or engineering. Applicants must be graduate students who have completed all the requirements for their degrees within two years prior to the nomination deadline. Nomination may be made by the applicant's research supervisor or someone familiar with the applicant's research work. A summary of the applicant's master's or Ph.D. research work, reports, memberships and involvement with scientific societies, awards, an academic record and reprints of publications are required.

The purpose of the Juliette M. Atherton Scholarship - Seminary Studies is to help students who attend or are planning to attend Concordia Seminary. Applicants must be residents of Hawaii and must be attending an accredited graduate school of theology. Students must show the desire to be ordained in an established Protestant denomination and must have a minimum GPA of 2.7.

The purpose of the Jones-Laurence Award for Scholastic Achievement is to improve scholarship among active Sigma Alpha Epsilon members. Applicants must be brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon in good standing and either must have junior standing or higher or must be pursuing full-time graduate study. This award is merit-based, with an emphasis on combining academic excellence, leadership, service and campus involvement. Applicants are nominated by their chapters and have a minimum 3.8 GPA.

The purpose of the Jean Theodore Lacordaire Prize is to recognize the work of coleopterists. Applicants must be graduate students whose papers are nominated for the competition. The papers must be based on the applicant's dissertation research about coleoptera (beetle) systematics or biology published in the preceding calendar year. Self-nominations are not accepted.

The purpose of the ACI Scholarship is to support students who are interested in studying concrete. Applicants must be nominated by a faculty member who is also a member of ACI in order to receive an application. Students must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students during the award year who plan to study in the U.S. or Canada. Applicants must be proficient in the English language. Students should submit applications via email.

The purpose of the A.O. Putnam Memorial Scholarship is to help undergraduate Institute members who plan to pursue careers in management consulting. Applicants must be undergraduate students enrolled in a college in the United States, Canada or Mexico with an accredited industrial engineering program, major in industrial engineering and be active members. Preference is given to students who plan to work in management consulting. Students may not apply directly for this scholarship and must be nominated. The award is based on academic ability, character, leadership, potential service to the industrial engineering profession and financial need. Minimum 3.4 GPA required.

The purpose of the Jackson Laboratory Scholarship is to reward students pursuing a college education in research or medical fields. Applicants must reside in Connecticut, Maine or in Sacramento County, California and must be pursuing a degree in biomedicine. Students must receive a nomination from a teacher and have financial need or be first-generation college students. Students must also have a 3.5 GPA and be graduating high school seniors.

The purpose of the Shred Nations Scholarship Program is to support students pursuing a higher education for students interested in business and environmental responsibility. Applicants must be interested in making future contributions to their community in business, environmental studies or the shredding and recycling industry. Students must be pursuing a degree at an accredited college, university or trade school and either currently be an enrolled college student or be a graduating senior in high school. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA, receive a nomination from an NAID member company employee or owner and must not be employees or immediate/extended family members of employees of Shred Nations. Students seeking a career in the secure destruction industry will receive priority. Applicants must write an essay as part of their application.

The purpose of the Jack E. Barger, Sr. Memorial Nursing Scholarship is to aid Pennsylvania nursing undergraduates who are serving in the military, are veterans, are military spouses, are veterans' spouses or who are the children of active duty military or veterans. Candidates must be residents of Pennsylvania and must be enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program at an institution located in Pennsylvania. They must be active duty military, veterans, military spouses, veterans' spouses or the children of active duty military or veterans. Candidates are nominated for this award by the deans and department heads in the school of nursing at their institutions. Selection of award recipients will be determined by lottery.

The purpose of the National Beta Club Scholarship is to award outstanding Beta Club members. Applicants must be active National Beta Club members who are registered with the national headquarters by June 30 of the application year, high school seniors and nominated by their chapters. Awards are based on factors including academic excellence, leadership, character and school and community service.

The purpose of the United Parcel Service Scholarship for Minority Students is to help minority undergraduate students in industrial engineering. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate minority students enrolled in a college in the United States, Canada or Mexico with an accredited industrial engineering program, have at least a 3.4 GPA, major in industrial engineering and be active members. Students may not apply directly for this scholarship and must be nominated. The award is based on academic ability, character, leadership, potential service to the industrial engineering profession and financial need.

The purpose of the Paul and Vera Meerdink Award is to assist students in Erie County. Applicants must be Corry Area High School graduating seniors with demonstrated outstanding citizenship and moral character. Students must be nominated by a family member, or someone from the school or community who knows the student well.

The purpose of the Ed Johnson Memorial Scholarship is to support graduating varsity boy's basketball players of Nebraska in pursuing post-secondary education. Selection is primarily based on demonstration of academic achievement, leadership potential, sportsmanship and citizenship. Students must be nominated by an NCA coach.

The purpose of the Zeb Gardner Memorial Scholarship is to assist students in the Peoria Public Schools. Applicants must be female graduating students from Richwoods High School who are members of Richwoods golf team. Students must be nominated by their golf coach.

The purpose of the AFPE Gateway to Research Scholarship is to encourage students to pursue a career in pharmacological research. Students must be a U.S. citizen and must be enrolled in a full-time ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy program. Applicants must be enrolled for at least one full academic year after receiving the award and must be nominated and mentored by a faculty member. Students may not be enrolled in a joint Pharm.D./Ph.D. program.

The purpose of the San Francisco Section Daniel Cubicciotti Student Award is to help a deserving student in Northern California to pursue a career in the physical sciences or engineering. Applicants must be full- or part-time graduate or advanced undergraduate students in good standing at a university or college in Northern California. Students must major in metallurgy, materials science, chemical engineering or chemistry and be involved in thesis research or other academic activities that relate to electrochemistry. Applicants may be nominated by anyone familiar with their qualifications. The applicant does not have to be a member of The Electrochemical Society. The award is based on academic excellence, quality of research activities, a demonstrated interest in the study of electrochemistry and personal characteristics that reflect Dan Cubicciotti's integrity. Community service and participation in other activities will also be considered.

The purpose of the Nancy McManus Washington Internship Scholarships is to provide Pi Sigma Alpha members with scholarships to participate in summer or fall term internships in Washington, DC. Applicants must belong to Pi Sigma Alpha and be nominated by their local chapter. The award is for a political science internship is based on academic achievement and service to the organization.

The purpose of the Franklin C. McLean Award is to support minority students who have exhibited outstanding achievement, leadership and community service. Applicants must be in their senior year of medical school. Students must be U.S. citizens and must be nominated for this award.

The purpose of the Robert B. Oliver ASNT Scholarship is to support students in nondestructive testing. Applicants must be undergraduate students enrolled in an engineering program and specialize in nondestructive testing (NDT). A nominating letter, transcript and an essay describing the role of NDT/NDE in their career are required. The award is based on creativity, content, format and readability and the student's involvement in a research project.

The purpose of the Betsy Plank/PRSSA Scholarship is to assist public relations students. Applicants must be PRSSA members enrolled in an undergraduate public relations program and be college juniors or seniors. Eligible students may be nominated from each PRSSA chapter. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership, experience and commitment to public relations. Applicants need to include a 300-word statement of commitment to public relations.

The purpose of the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards is to assist Jewish teens who have demonstrated leadership and participation in community service projects that exemplify the value of tikkun olam (repair of the world). Applicants must be Jewish teens, U.S. residents and between 13 and 19 years old. Two references and an application form are required. Teens' projects can help either the Jewish community or the general community as long as they have not been remunerated for their services. Teens may be nominated by any community member who knows the importance of their project except family members or may also nominate themselves.

The purpose of the AFCEA ROTC Scholarships is to assist ROTC sophomores or juniors who are majoring in aerospace engineering, electronics, computer science, computer engineering, physics or mathematics. Applicants must major in electrical or aerospace engineering, electronics, computer science, computer engineering, physics or mathematics at an accredited U.S. four-year college or university. Applicants must also be enrolled full-time as college sophomores or juniors and be nominated by professors of military science, naval science or aerospace studies. Applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled in ROTC, have good moral character, demonstrate academic excellence and the potential to serve as an officer in the U.S. Armed Forces and have financial need.

The purpose of the John L. Imhoff Scholarship is to reward a student who has contributed to the development of the industrial engineering profession through international understanding. Applicants must be pursuing a B.S., master's or doctorate degree in an accredited IE program, have a minimum 3.4 GPA and have at least two years of school remaining. Students may not apply directly for this scholarship and must be nominated. An essay describing the candidate's international contributions to industrial engineering and three references are required. IIE membership is not required.

The purpose of the Lisa Zaken Award For Excellence is to reward excellence in scholarly activities and leadership related to the industrial engineering profession on campus. Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students with at least one year remaining, have a 3.0 or higher GPA, major in industrial engineering and be active members who have been leaders in IIE. Students may not apply directly for this scholarship and must be nominated. The award is based on academic ability and leadership related to industrial engineering.
