5 Nomination-Required Scholarships (May 2024)

The purpose of the AFCEA ROTC Scholarships is to assist ROTC sophomores or juniors who are majoring in aerospace engineering, electronics, computer science, computer engineering, physics or mathematics. Applicants must major in electrical or aerospace engineering, electronics, computer science, computer engineering, physics or mathematics at an accredited U.S. four-year college or university. Applicants must also be enrolled full-time as college sophomores or juniors and be nominated by professors of military science, naval science or aerospace studies. Applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled in ROTC, have good moral character, demonstrate academic excellence and the potential to serve as an officer in the U.S. Armed Forces and have financial need.

The purpose of the Betsy Plank/PRSSA Scholarship is to assist public relations students. Applicants must be PRSSA members enrolled in an undergraduate public relations program and be college juniors or seniors. Eligible students may be nominated from each PRSSA chapter. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership, experience and commitment to public relations. Applicants need to include a 300-word statement of commitment to public relations.

The purpose of the Donald F. and Mildred Topp Othmer Scholarships is to support AIChE student members. Applicants must be members of an AIChE Student Chapter or Chemical Engineering Club. Applicants must be nominated by their student chapter advisors. Awards are presented on the basis of academic achievement and involvement in student chapter activities.

The purpose of the Mr. and Mrs. Sidney A. Sparks Collegian of the Year is to honor the most outstanding collegian member of Delta Sigma Pi who exemplifies the ideals of the organization. Nominees must be members in good standing and be nominated by their chapter. Demonstrated fraternity involvement, demonstrated college/university and/or community involvement, demonstrated pursuit of professional development and scholastic average will all be considered along with other desirable characteristics like moral character and professional attitude.

The purpose of the American Legion Baseball Scholarship is to award scholarships to members of American Legion-affiliated baseball teams. Applicants must have graduated high school and be nominated by a head coach or team manager. One player per department (state) will be selected. Nominations should be sent to the local Department Headquarters. Scholarships may be used to further education at any accredited college, university or other institution of higher education.
