6 Scholarships for Cherokee Students (December 2025)

The purpose of the Leon C. and Grace E. Luther Scholarship is to assist students in the Western North Carolina area. Applicants must be graduating seniors of Andrews High School in Cherokee County.

The purpose of the LAMC Community Mitigation Scholarship Endowment is to assist students in the Coastal region of South Carolina. Applicants must be residents of Accabee, Chicora Cherokee, Union Heights, Howard Heights, Windsor Place, Five Mile or Liberty Hill neighborhoods in North Charleston, South Carolina.

The purpose of the Cherokee Nation Directed Studies Scholarship is to aid Cherokee college students. Applicants must be citizens of the Cherokee Nation and reside in the Cherokee Nation jurisdictional area. They must be enrolled full-time in a graduate or upper-level undergraduate degree program. They must agree to work for the Cherokee Nation for two years following graduation. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

The purpose of the Robert A. Long Scholarship Fund is to assist students in the Greater Kansas City area. Applicants must be graduating seniors from Southeast High School in Cherokee, Kansas who are either from McCune, Kansas or who have attended the McCune Attendance Center. Students must plan to further their education at a two- or four-year college or university, or an accredited technical school. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

The purpose of the Health Professions Pre-Graduate Scholarship Program is to aid Native Americans and Alaska Natives who are enrolled in selected health-related pre-professional degree programs. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who are enrolled in or accepted into a pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-optometry, pre-podiatry or other health-related pre-professional degree program. Applicants must have plans to work in the Native American or Alaska Native community as a health care provider in the chosen field of study. Selection is based on academic achievement, recommendation letters and the applicant's stated career goals. Applicant must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.

The purpose of the Leroy Ripper Scholarship is to assist students in the Western North Carolina area. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors whose primary residence is in Cherokee County or in Clay County.
