7 Scholarships for Foster Care Students (January 2026)

The purpose of the Washington State Governors' Scholarship for Foster Youth is to assist Washington state youth in an open dependency court order. Applicants must be high school seniors, have a minimum 2.0 GPA, have resided in Washington for at least three years prior to graduation and plan to enroll full-time in an eligible Washington public or private college or university.

The purpose of the Oklahoma Youth with Promise Scholarship Fund is to provide educational assistance to students who graduated while in foster care. Applicants must be graduates of Oklahoma high schools who were in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services at the time of graduation. They must have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Financial need is considered.

The purpose of the Morency Family Scholarship is to support high school graduates from the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend's service area who have a GPA of at least 2.0. Applicants must be accepted or currently enrolled at an accredited educational institution. Preference will be given to students who enroll in a manufacturing program and those who have been in foster care.

The purpose of the National Foster Parent Association (NFPA) Youth Scholarship is to support foster youth. Applicants must be foster children, adopted children or biological children of currently licensed foster parents who are high school seniors planning to attend a college or university.

The purpose of the Tuition Waiver for Foster Care Recipients is to assist students who have resided in foster care in attending a public college. Applicants must be under age 25 and have been in an out-of-home placement when they graduated from high school or have lived in foster care on their 14th birthday and subsequently been adopted.

The purpose of the Educational Training Voucher Programs for Foster Youth is to support foster care students pursuing a higher education. Applicants must have been in foster care for their 18th birthday and have aged out at that time, been adopted from foster care with the adoption finalized after their 16th birthday, or have their foster care case closed between the ages of 18 and 21. Students must be residents of Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio or the District of Columbia. Students must be a U.S. citizen with assets worth less than $10,000. Applicants must be at least 17 but younger than 21 to apply for the first time. Students must have been accepted into a degree, certificate or other accredited program at a college, university, technical or vocational school.

The purpose of the Otto A. Huth Scholarship Fund is to assist students in the Northern Nevada area. Applicants must be students with a minimum 2.0 GPA who are about to age out of foster care or have already aged out of foster care in the state of Nevada. Students must apply before the age of 21 and plan to attend school full-time. Applicants must agree to maintain the minimum GPA requirement as established by the student's chosen institution and provide a copy of unofficial transcripts at the end of each semester they are receiving a scholarship.
