11 Scholarships for Tribe Students (December 2025)

The purpose of the TechChecks Business Leadership Scholarship is to reward students who have strong academic credentials and are pursuing a degree that emphasizes business or marketing. Applicants must be high school seniors or current college students pursuing a degree in business administration or another business-related field. A minimum 3.5 GPA is required. Students must be U.S. citizens and preference will be given to those who are female, have a disability or belong to one of the following minority groups: African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American/Pacific Islander or Native American/American Indian (must provide proof of membership to a tribe). Students must submit an essay on the topic provided. Essay selection will be based on the quality of research, originality and presentation.

The purpose of the Catching the Dream Native American Scholarship Fund is to support American Indian students pursuing higher education. Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students who are 1/4 or more American Indian, enrolled in a U.S. tribe and attend or plans to attend an accredited institution on a full-time basis. Students must excel academically, have received high ACT or SAT scores and demonstrate a strong commitment to the Indian community. Selection is based on the strength of the overall application.

The purpose of the Steven R. Nelson Native Educator Scholarship is to support Native students in the Northwest pursuing a master’s degree in education policy, leadership, technical assistance, research or a closely related field. Applicants must reside in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon or Washington and be members or descendants of a federally recognized, state recognized or terminated American Indian tribe; or Alaska Native village, council or corporation; or Native Hawaiian or identify as a Pacific Islander from a U.S.-affiliated Pacific Island jurisdiction. Students must be accepted or enrolled in a master’s program in an accredited, public or private, nonprofit institution of higher education in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon or Washington and pursue a field of study in education policy, leadership, technical assistance, research or a closely related field. An essay submission on a provided prompt is required.

The purpose of the Kimberly Rose Means - Native American Council of Tribes Scholarship is to assist students in the Sioux Falls area. Applicants must be graduating seniors who are enrolled members of a South Dakota Native American tribe or South Dakota tribal members who are returning to school after an absence. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational school.

The purpose of the Osmann Family Native American Scholarship is to assist students in the Sioux Falls area. Applicants must be graduating South Dakota high school seniors who are enrolled members of a Native American tribe. Students must plan to attend a college in the South Dakota university system or a vocational or technical school in Sioux Falls, Watertown, Mitchell, or Rapid City and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants must have the desire and ability to succeed in further academic study and have participated in extracurricular or community activities.

The purpose of the Paumanauke Native American Indian Scholarship is to encourage Native American Indians to finish their college educations. Applicants must be members of a Native American Indian tribe who are enrolled full-time at a college, university or other accredited post-secondary institution. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

The purpose of the Ardell Bjugstad Scholarship is to encourage Native American students pursuing degrees in agribusiness, agricultural production, agricultural sciences or natural resources. Applicants must be high school seniors who are residents of South Dakota or North Dakota. Students must be enrolled members of a federally recognized Indian tribe whose reservation is located in South Dakota or North Dakota. Applicants must be planning to earn a degree in agriculture or natural resources or a related field.

The purpose of the ND Indian Scholarship is to support North Dakota residents who are members of a federally recognized Indian tribe with higher education expenses. Applicants must be North Dakota residents and enrolled members of a federally recognized Indian tribe. Students must be accepted for admission by a North Dakota institution of higher learning or state vocational education program, enrolled full time and have a minimum 2.0 GPA.

The purpose of the Health Professions Pre-Graduate Scholarship Program is to aid Native Americans and Alaska Natives who are enrolled in selected health-related pre-professional degree programs. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who are enrolled in or accepted into a pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-optometry, pre-podiatry or other health-related pre-professional degree program. Applicants must have plans to work in the Native American or Alaska Native community as a health care provider in the chosen field of study. Selection is based on academic achievement, recommendation letters and the applicant's stated career goals. Applicant must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.

The purpose of the Truman D. Picard Scholarship is to promote the field of natural resources. Applicants must be high school seniors or college students and must pursue the natural resources field. Applicants must submit a resume, letters of reference, validated enrollment in Tribe/Native Alaska Corporation and a letter about their interest in natural resources, educational background, academic achievements and financial need.

The purpose of the Hopi Scholarship Program is to help Hopi students with academic achievement. Applicants must be enrolled members of the Hopi tribe, be high school graduates or have earned a GED, have been accepted to a regionally accredited college and plan to attend full-time and have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students must be in top 10 percent of their high school class or score 930 on the SAT or 21 on the ACT as entering freshmen; have a minimum 3.0 GPA as undergraduates or have a minimum 3.2 GPA as graduate, post graduate or professional degree students. Applications, statements of goals, financial needs analysis, proof of Hopi enrollment and transcripts are required.
