The purpose of the Carson Scholars is to recognize students who demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to the community. Applicants must be nominated by their school. They must be in grades 4 through 11 and have a GPA of 3.75 or higher in English, reading, language arts, math, science, social studies and foreign language. They must have participated in some form of voluntary community service beyond what is required by their school. Scholarship recipients must attend a four-year college or university upon graduation to receive funds.

The purpose of the Phyllis I. Wormwood Scholarship is to assist students in the Fox Valley Region. Applicants must be graduating seniors from Seymour High School who plan to pursue a degree in English at an accredited college or university. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA throughout high school.

The purpose of the Anthony H. Simon English Scholarship is to assist students in the Fox Valley Region. Applicants must be graduating seniors from Menasha High School who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and plan on attending a four-year accredited college or university.

The purpose of the Eleanor Kellam Scholarship Fund is to assist students in the Pittsburgh area. Applicants must attend Bay High School, Bay Village as graduating seniors. Students must pursue a degree or studies in English or Humanities and have an interest and/or ability in English or Fine Arts. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and plan to attend a 2-or 4-year college or university.

The purpose of the Dr. Merritt Olson Scholarship is to support graduating seniors of West High School in pursuing post-secondary education. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership skills, community service and extracurricular involvement. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Students must be enrolled full-time at an educational institution for the upcoming academic year. Preference is given to students intent on pursuing a career in education, specifically as either a math, history or English teacher or as a guidance counselor.

The purpose of the Stephanie G. Hoffman Scholarship Fund is to support Jewish students who are pursuing a post-secondary education with a focus on library science, English literature and other related fields. Applicants must be Jewish undergraduate or graduate students, demonstrate an interest in using reading to inspire underserved children to attend college and major in library science, English literature or other related fields. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, have parents who are permanent residents of the San Francisco Bay area if they're an undergraduate degree seeker or be a permanent resident of the San Francisco Bay area if they're a graduate degree seeker. Students must submit a personal essay using 1,000 words, demonstrate financial need and provide two letters of recommendation.

The purpose of the Art Hopp Leadership Scholarship is to support students from the Pinconning area who are involved in extracurricular activities and the community. Applicants must be Bay County residents, have a minimum 2.65 GPA and be a full or part-time student. Students must be involved in at least one extracurricular activity and have a solid track record for utilizing the English language. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation, a FAFSA application, a current transcript, a personal essay and an acceptable portrait photo as a JPEG or PNG along with their application.

The purpose of the Edith Wiskind English Literacy Scholarship Fund is to assist students in the Akron area. Applicants must be Summit County students with preference given to those pursuing a degree in English. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

The purpose of the Frederick V. Hoyet Sr. and Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund is to assist students in the Pittsburgh area. Applicants must attend high school at Penn-Trafford High School as graduating seniors and reside in Westmoreland County. Students must pursue a degree or studies in engineering, law, criminology, criminal justice, healthcare, biological sciences, fine arts, English/literature, humanities and environmental or conservation studies and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

The purpose of the C. A. Ensign Fund is to assist students in the Pittsburgh area. Applicants must attend Newton Falls High School as graduating seniors and demonstrate financial need. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and must show interest in English or Journalism.

The purpose of the PenSPRA Scholarship is to support Pennsylvania students pursuing a career in the communications field. Applicants must be Pennsylvania public high school students with a 3.0 GPA who are pursuing a degree in communications or a related field such as public relations, journalism, English, advertising or graphic arts. Students must have been accepted to or applied to a college, university, technical school or other institution of higher learning. Applicants must live within one of PenSPRA's three regions (Eastern, Central and Western).

The purpose of the Predoctoral Fellowship Program is to support advanced graduate research in the history, theory and criticism of art, architecture and urbanism. Applicants for predoctoral fellowships must be nominated by the chair of the graduate department of art history or other appropriate departments. Applicants must have completed all departmental requirements, including course work, residency and general and preliminary examinations. Certification in two languages other than English is required. Applicants should submit nomination forms, supporting letters from two individuals and writing samples. There are various fellowships. The David E. Finley Fellowship requires applicants have a significant interest in curatorial work. The Paul Mellon Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in Western art. The Samuel H. Kress Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in European art on a topic before the early nineteenth century. The Wyeth Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation that concerns aspects of art of the United States, including native and pre-Revolutionary America. The Ittleson Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in the visual arts in a field other than Western art. The Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship is for the completion of a doctoral dissertation in cross-cultural studies or in a field other than Western art through the twentieth century. The Robert H. and Clarice Smith Fellowship is for research on Northern European art between 1400 and 1700, intended for the advancement or completion of either a doctoral dissertation or a resulting publication. The Chester Dale Fellowships are for the advancement or completion of a doctoral dissertation in any area of Western art, with a preference for modern and contemporary topics. The Center offers a Paul Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship for recipients of the David E. Finley, Paul Mellon, Samuel H. Kress, Wyeth, Ittleson, Andrew W. Mellon and two-year Chester Dale fellowships if the dissertation has been accepted by June 1 of the residence year. Several candidates for each fellowship will be invited to Washington for interviews.

The purpose of the National High School Poetry Contest/Easterday Poetry Award is to provide a venue for young poets to be recognized. Applicants must be U.S. high school students. Submitted poems must be 20 lines or less, in English, unpublished and not simultaneously submitted to any other competition. Applicants may only submit one poem during any 90-day span and must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with each mailed entry, or applicants may submit their poems online. Submissions are accepted year-round.

The purpose of the Norma Ross Walter Scholarship is to encourage female students who are Nebraska residents to pursue a degree in English. Applicants must be female high school seniors from Nebraska who intend to enter college as a first-year student and continue on to receive a major in English. Students must plan to attend an accredited college or university.

The purpose of the NCTA and AWMF Scholarship is to support female undergraduate and graduate students studying media, journalism, English, communications and related fields. Applicants must be attending an accredited college or university in the United States in the fall of application year. Students must submit a 750- to 1,000-word essay on a suggested topic.

The purpose of the ServiceScape is to help offset the cost of post-secondary education. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and current or enrolling students at a college, university or trade school. Students must submit an essay written in English along with their application.

The purpose of the James R. Hodgins Memorial Scholarship is to assist students in the Isabella County area. Applicants must be graduating seniors from Mt. Pleasant High School, Sacred Heart Academy, Beal City High School, or Shepherd High School who successfully completed college preparatory classes in English or at least three years of foreign language. Preference will be given to applicants planning to pursue a teaching degree.

The purpose of the Frances S. Wolfe Memorial Scholarship is to support Iowa students. Applicants must be seniors graduating from Davenport Central High School and must demonstrate financial need. Students must also be planning to pursue education studies in English or literature.

The purpose of the Linda Oshinsky Memorial Scholarship Endowment is to assist students in the Coastal region of South Carolina. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors from Stratford who plan to major in English or education in college.

The purpose of the Illinois Oratorical Program Scholarships is to enhance high school students' experience with and understanding of the U.S. Constitution. The contest will help develop students' leadership skills and civic appreciation, as well as the ability to deliver thoughtful, insightful orations regarding U.S. citizenship and its inherent responsibilities. Applicants must be high school students under the age of 20 who are U.S. citizens or legal residents and residents of the state. Students first give an oration within their state and winners compete at the national level. The oration must be related to the Constitution of the United States focusing on the duties and obligations citizens have to the government. It must be in English and be between eight and ten minutes. There is also an assigned topic which is posted on the website, and it should be between three and five minutes.

The purpose of the Hans and Patty Helland Memorial Scholarship is to support Wisconsin students pursuing a post-secondary liberal arts education. Applicants must plan to pursue a post-secondary liberal arts education with a focus on English. Students must submit an essay or poem demonstrating their interest and talent. Applicants must submit the local scholarship application form, a financial need statement, career plan, resume, transcripts and two letters of recommendation.

The purpose of the Dwain and Polly Wright Educational Scholarship Fund is to assist students in the Greater Kansas City area. Applicants must be graduating seniors from Macon High School who have completed at least two English, language arts or vocational classes and have been accepted to attend a two- or four-year college, university and/or technical school to further their education.

The purpose of the Student Translation Award is to encourage translation projects by students. Applicants must be graduate or undergraduate students or a group of students attending an accredited U.S. college or university. The project should have post-grant results such as a publication, conference presentation or teaching material. Computer-assisted translations, dissertations and theses are not eligible, and students who are already published translators are not eligible. Translations must be from a foreign language into English. Preference is given to students who have been or are currently enrolled in translator training programs. There is a limit of one entry per student. Applicants should submit entry forms, statements of purpose, letter of recommendation, translation sample with corresponding source-language text, proof of permission to publish from copyright holder and sample outline or other material demonstrating the nature of the work (if the project is not a translation).

The purpose of the Bree Elizabeth Miller Memorial Scholarship is to support graduates of Hendersonville High School in pursuing a degree in English or international studies. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application. Students must submit an application detailing their employment history, volunteer experience, extracurricular involvement, academic performance and financial information.

The purpose of the American Legion Department of Arkansas High School Oratorical Scholarship Program is to enhance high school students' experience with and understanding of the U.S. Constitution. The contest will help develop students' leadership skills and civic appreciation, as well as the ability to deliver thoughtful, insightful orations regarding U.S. citizenship and its inherent responsibilities. Applicants must be high school students under the age of 20 who are U.S. citizens or legal residents and residents of the state. Students first give an oration within their state and winners compete at the national level. The oration must be related to the Constitution of the United States focusing on the duties and obligations citizens have to the government.
