10 Physical Sciences Scholarships (January 2026)

The purpose of the Heinlein Society Scholarship Program is to reward students who are attending a four-year college. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students at an accredited college. One scholarship is awarded to a woman majoring in engineering, math or physical sciences (physics/chemistry). Two scholarships are awarded to male or female students majoring in engineering, math or biological or physical sciences as well as science fiction as literature. Students must submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay on one of the topics listed on the website.

The purpose of the Banatao Filipino American Education Fund is to help school students of Filipino heritage in pursuing a college education. Applicants for the college scholarship should be high school seniors of at least half Filipino heritage with a GPA of at least a 3.0 who will enroll at four-year colleges or universities and plan to major in engineering, computer science or physical sciences (health professionals such as doctors and nurses not included). Each scholarship is renewable up to three years based on satisfactory academic performance in a full-time undergraduate program. Awards are for undergraduate study only and are based on potential, motivation and financial need. Applicants must be residents of one of the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Merced, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma or Stanislaus. Applicants for the college prep scholarship must be high school juniors of at least half Filipino heritage with a GPA of 3.0 who plan to attend four-year colleges or universities and are interested in SAT preparation and college admissions counseling. Students should have an interest in engineering, math or science and be residents of one of the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano or Sonoma.

The purpose of the Hertz Foundation's Graduate Fellowship Award is to help graduate students in the applied physical and engineering sciences. Applicants must be college seniors planning to pursue or graduate students currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the applied physical and engineering sciences or modern biology which applies the physical sciences. Successful applicants must attend one of the foundation's approved schools. The award is based on merit, creativity and potential for research.

The purpose of the Tech High School Alumni Association/W.O. Cheney Merit Scholarship is to aid future college students who are planning to major in engineering, mathematics or one of the physical sciences. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, Georgia residents and high school seniors who have been accepted at an accredited four-year postsecondary institution. They must be planning to major in mathematics, one of the physical sciences or engineering and must be full-time students who have a proven interest in community service. They must have an SAT composite (math and critical reading) score of 1300 or higher and must either be in the top 10 percent of their class or have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

The purpose of the Chuck Reville, K3FT Memorial Scholarship is to support licensed amateur radio enthusiasts who are pursuing bachelor's degrees in engineering or any of the physical sciences. Applicants must be licensed amateur radio enthusiasts who are enrolled full-time in a bachelor's degree program in engineering or physical science. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

The purpose of the Paul and Ellen Ruckes Scholarship is to support visually impaired engineering, computer science, life sciences or physical sciences students. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who are blind or visually impaired. They must be undergraduate or graduate students who are majoring in computer science, life sciences, physical sciences or engineering. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

The purpose of the San Francisco Section Daniel Cubicciotti Student Award is to help a deserving student in Northern California to pursue a career in the physical sciences or engineering. Applicants must be full- or part-time graduate or advanced undergraduate students in good standing at a university or college in Northern California. Students must major in metallurgy, materials science, chemical engineering or chemistry and be involved in thesis research or other academic activities that relate to electrochemistry. Applicants may be nominated by anyone familiar with their qualifications. The applicant does not have to be a member of The Electrochemical Society. The award is based on academic excellence, quality of research activities, a demonstrated interest in the study of electrochemistry and personal characteristics that reflect Dan Cubicciotti's integrity. Community service and participation in other activities will also be considered.

The purpose of the Analytical Engineering, Inc. (AEI) Scholarship is to encourage students with financial need to pursue technical careers. Applicants must be graduating seniors from a Bartholomew County public, private or home school or Trinity Lutheran High School. Students must plan to pursue a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering, computer science or the physical sciences at an accredited college or university. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA and have need of financial assistance to continue their education.

The purpose of the Andrea Wagner Women in Science Scholarship is to assist students in the Berkshire Taconic area. Applicants must be female U.S. citizens and full-time residents of the Berkshire Taconic for most of the last two years of public or private high school. Students must be current college freshmen, sophomores or juniors applying for aid for the remaining years in their four-year bachelor program. Applicants must major in math, chemistry, engineering or physical sciences with a minimum 3.3 GPA.

The purpose of the Graduate Fellowship for STEM Diversity is to increase the number of American citizens with graduate degrees in the physical sciences and related engineering fields, emphasizing recruitment of a diverse applicant pool. Applicants must be graduate students in physical science, U.S. citizens, available to accept two summers of paid internship with a government agency and must not already possess a doctoral degree. Students may also be nominated directly by a NPSC member employer.
