When applying for scholarships, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to provide sensitive personal information like your Social Security Number (SSN). If membership is required to apply, the membership should ALWAYS BE FREE. Basically, NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING. Those are scams! Some scholarships may ask for your address or proof of enrollment. That's fine, but always verify you're actually talking to the scholarship provider and not an imposter. Scams in scholarships are rampant, be careful! When clicking on the button to apply, you will leave Scholarships That Work and go to the application page for that organization outside this site. The Changemakers HBCU Innovation Competition Scholarship is a $10,000+ and merit-based award for full-time and African American students in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, and more. The Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s (TMCF) Innovation and Entrepreneur (I&E) Program has teamed up with Gucci Changemakers to find innovators and entrepreneurs attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) or Predominately Black Institutions (PBIs). We’re looking for students who think critically, creatively, and are passionate about solving problems that impact the world. TMCF will select 10 HBCUs or Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs) to participate in the Changemakers HBCU Innovation Competition. Of the ten schools selected to compete, three students from each school will make up their team and represent their institution. This one-and-a-half-day event will be both challenging and rewarding! Teams will be tasked with developing solutions to social, educational, and economic problems facing the communities surrounding their HBCU and pitch their ideas to a panel of expert judges comprised of successful entrepreneurs and business leaders. Students will also engage with top leaders at Gucci during immersive panel discussions and chats.
