The purpose of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Scholarship Program is to support students who have been under the guardianship of the Department of Children and Family Services. Applicants must be between 16 and 21 years of age as of the application deadline and have a diploma from an accredited high school or a GED by the end of the current school year. Students must be in the Subsidized Guardianship Program, or the department must have court-ordered legal guardianship or have had legal guardianship for the applicant before adoption was finalized. Recipients must attend an Illinois state community college or university.
