What is the Promise Scholarship?

The Promise Scholarship is a $3,000+, merit-based, and renewable award in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, and more. Promise Scholarship The Promise Scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships UC Irvine offers to California residents entering UCI. Promise Scholars entering in Fall 2020 will receive a monetary honorarium of $3,000 per academic year for a total of two years, subject to the terms of renewal. Application and Selection Process The Promise Scholarship is awarded based on the information gathered on the UC Application for Admission and Scholarships. No additional materials are required nor considered in the selection process. The selection committee conducts a comprehensive review of the applicant pool to determine the student's strength and breadth of academic preparation. Selection is based on a comprehensive review of the admissions application, including, but not limited to test scores and grades. To be eligible for the Promise Scholarship you must be a U.S. citizen, eligible non-citizen, or a student qualifying under AB130 or AB131. Only students who are California residents that fall under these categories are eligible for the Promise Scholarship. To be considered for the Promise Scholarship, you must apply for fall admission by November 30. Applicants for winter or spring quarter are not eligible.
