The Smith-Barney Mercantile Foundation Scholarship is a $1,400+, merit-based, and essay-based award for full-time students in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, and more. This scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in Northeastern’s Daniel L. Goodwin College of Education who are Chicago Public High School graduates and attended all four years of high school in the Chicago Public School system. This opportunity is also open to NEIU College of Education graduate students. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Undergraduate applicants must have a cumulative grade Point Average of 2.5 or higher, and graduate student applicants must have a Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher. Graduate students must be employed full-time as a teacher in the Chicago Public School system, and be admitted and enrolled in an NEIU Daniel L.Goodwin College of Education graduate program for the purpose of enhancing their teaching abilities. Graduate student applicants must have a demonstrated history of working with underserved youth in the Chicago public school system. -All applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and submit an essay.
