About This Scholarship

The purpose of the Vincent Chin Scholarship is to support college students interested in pursuing careers in journalism. Applicants must be undergraduate students enrolled full-time and must be currently taking or planning to take journalism courses and/or pursuing a career in journalism. Applicants are not required to be Asian Americans but must support the mission of the AAJA and be committed to work within the community. Selection is based on the applicant's promise to support the field of journalism and issues faced by Pacific Islanders and Asian Americans. In addition, selection is based on financial need, academic achievement and demonstrated ability in journalism as well as the applicant's resume, two letters of recommendation, essay and work samples.
