When applying for scholarships, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to provide sensitive personal information like your Social Security Number (SSN). If membership is required to apply, the membership should ALWAYS BE FREE. Basically, NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING. Those are scams! Some scholarships may ask for your address or proof of enrollment. That's fine, but always verify you're actually talking to the scholarship provider and not an imposter. Scams in scholarships are rampant, be careful! Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Vocal Music Scholarship?

The Vocal Music Scholarship is a $2,500+ and renewable award in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, and more. Assumption University offers a number of vocal music scholarships, based on an audition, of $2,500 - $10,000 to incoming first-year students who demonstrate vocal excellence and who commit to participation in the Assumption University Chorale and its a cappella chamber ensemble, VOCE. The scholarship is renewable each year, provided the student continues to participate in Chorale and VOCE and maintains good attendance in those ensembles. The ASSUMPTION UNIVERSITY CHORALE is an auditioned academic concert choir comprised of men and women who are studying for professions in all walks of life and who share an interest in choral singing. The Chorale performs great choral repertoire of all style periods from Gregorian chant to twentieth-century music. Their active performance schedule has included concerts in the United States, as well as performances on radio and television. The Chorale’s international concert tours have taken them to Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, Ireland, and Greece. They have sung in some of the great cathedrals of Europe, including Notre Dame in Paris, and St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, and have twice had the distinction of singing for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican. VOCE is an ensemble from within the Chorale, and singers are chosen by audition at the beginning of the year. They have one or two extra rehearsals a week immediately following Chorale rehearsals, and usually focus on a cappella music, both classical and popular. VOCE means “voices” in Latin. The group usually performs their own set within Chorale concerts and also sings for special events, such as the alumni children’s Christmas brunch and the President’s Council Dinner. Students who are awarded a Vocal Music Scholarship will automatically be in VOCE without further audition.
