10 Library Science Scholarships (March 2026)

The purpose of the Frank B. Sessa Scholarship for Continuing Education is to support members of Beta Phi Mu by offering them funding for any relevant professional development activities. Applicants must be studying library science and have a current vita and include their chapter name and date of induction with their application. Additionally, a two page summary of what the applicant intends to use the funding for and a discussion of how it will enhance their professional skills is required.

The purpose of the LITA / Christian (Chris) Larew Memorial Scholarship in Library and Information Technology is to encourage students to pursue library sciences. Applicants must be pursuing a master of library science degree from an ALA-accredited program and have completed less than 12 credit hours. Students must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership and a vision in pursuit of library and information technology. Applicants must provide their qualifications, personal statement and letters of reference along with their application.

The purpose of the Stephanie G. Hoffman Scholarship Fund is to support Jewish students who are pursuing a post-secondary education with a focus on library science, English literature and other related fields. Applicants must be Jewish undergraduate or graduate students, demonstrate an interest in using reading to inspire underserved children to attend college and major in library science, English literature or other related fields. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, have parents who are permanent residents of the San Francisco Bay area if they're an undergraduate degree seeker or be a permanent resident of the San Francisco Bay area if they're a graduate degree seeker. Students must submit a personal essay using 1,000 words, demonstrate financial need and provide two letters of recommendation.

The purpose of the Tony B. Leisner Scholarship is to encourage library staff pursuing an advanced degree in library science. Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents currently working in a library. Students must be pursuing a master's degree in an ALA-accredited program and have not earned more than 12 credit hours. Applicants must provide personal statement along with their application.

The purpose of the American Library Association Century Scholarship is to support library students with disabilities. Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens with disabilities admitted to an ALA-accredited school studying for a master's or doctorate in library science. Students must provide medical documentation of their disability and services needed for their studies. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

The purpose of the Marie Piehl Dussling and B.P. Dussling Scholarship is to assist students in the Fox Valley Region. Applicants must be graduating seniors from Bonduel High School who are planning to obtain post-secondary education at a college or university with preference given to those pursuing a degree in library science.

The purpose of the Tom and Roberta Drewes Scholarship is to encourage library support staff pursuing advanced degrees in library science. Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents currently working in a library. Students must be pursuing a master's degree in an ALA-accredited program and have not earned more than 12 credit hours. Applicants must provide personal statement along with their application.

The purpose of the LITA/OCLC Minority Scholarship in Library and Information Technology is to support minority students pursuing an advanced degree in library science. Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens and qualified members of a principal minority group (American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian or Pacific Islander, African-American or Hispanic) who are enrolled in an accredited master of library science program. Students must demonstrate a commitment to automated system usage in libraries and provide a statement of their library experience and anticipated contribution to the field. Applicants must not have earned more than 12 credit hours towards their degree.

The purpose of the Core/OCLC Spectrum Scholarship in Library and Information Technology is to encourage students pursuing library sciences. Applicants must be qualified members of a principal minority group such as American Indian or Alaskan native, Asian or Pacific Islander, African American or Hispanic. Students must be U.S. or Canadian citizens. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited master of library science program and have earned fewer than 12 credit hours. Students must submit references, personal statement and academic transcripts along with the application.

The purpose of the Associate Fellowship Program is to promote careers in health sciences librarianship. Applicants must be current U.S. or Canadian citizens and library science professionals or graduate students pursuing library science degrees. Students must have earned a master's degree in an ALA-accredited library or information science program.
