When applying for scholarships, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to provide sensitive personal information like your Social Security Number (SSN). If membership is required to apply, the membership should ALWAYS BE FREE. Basically, NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING. Those are scams! Some scholarships may ask for your address or proof of enrollment. That's fine, but always verify you're actually talking to the scholarship provider and not an imposter. Scams in scholarships are rampant, be careful! When clicking on the button to apply, you will leave Scholarships That Work and go to the application page for that organization outside this site. The American Dental Education Association (ADEA), with support from the ADEAGies Foundation, announces the ADEA Faculty of Color Tuition Scholarships for Professional Development, ADEA Summer Program for Emerging Academic Leaders. This scholarship supports professional development activities for faculty of color in dental and allied dental education in the early stages of their careers. The ADEA Faculty of Color Tuition Scholarships for Professional Development, ADEA Summer Program for Emerging Academic Leaders were created to enable junior faculty (up to three years of experience) of color to participate in programs that will improve their teaching abilities, increase their leadership skills and advance their understanding and mastery of other critical elements of a successful academic career. This three-and-a-half day program covers topics such as leadership styles, team building and time management that are essential to planning and implementing a successful academic career. The highly interactive program has been designed specifically to give faculty guidance, insight and skills to propel their careers, and is suited for junior faculty members, whether they recently joined their institutions after a residency or after time spent in private practice. The programming includes onsite sessions led by preeminent experts in dental education, readings, assignments and team-building exercises. Additionally, each participant is assigned to a peer group tasked with helping its members implement the topics discussed and learn to manage the pressures of being a new faculty member. These peer groups are facilitated by leaders in dental education, who themselves are graduates of the ADEA Summer Program for Emerging Academic Leaders or the ADEA Leadership Institute. Four $1,950 tuition scholarships will be awarded in 2021. Scholarship recipients, or their institutions, will be responsible for lodging and transportation expenses associated with participating in the program. All are welcome to apply. Those from the following historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply: Black or African American Hispanic/Latino(a) and American Indian
