The future of psychoanalysis depends on countering the field’s insularity and increasing the public awareness of the benefits of psychoanalytic treatments and the applications of psychoanalytic thought to organizational and social problems This year’s grant is designed to help build our profession’s capacity in this important area. Funding specifics: one grant of up to $6,000. Evaluation Criteria Special consideration will be given this year to projects on the twin pandemics of racism and COVID-19. The Marsha D. McCary Div. 39 (Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy) Fund for Psychoanalysis was established to increase public awareness of the benefits of psychoanalytic principles and treatments, as well as demonstrate the applicability of psychoanalytic thought to clinical, organizational, and social problems. The fund has been established to recognize and promote the contributions of psychoanalysis to psychology as a science and profession. It encourages and supports programs in education, research, and service that will advance the profession and keep the psychological community and the public informed of developments in psychoanalytic scholarship, research, and practice. The fund will target populations that are in need of support, such as early-career professionals, students from diverse backgrounds, and therapists working with underserved populations.
